2022: New Years Eve Post
A quick end of year post. I made 73 paintings and illustrations this year. In 2022, I started working in gouache, oil, watercolor, and ink. That doesn’t mean that I’m abandoning acrylic, by any means, but it has been exciting challenge. I’ve also made an effort to start working in series more. So, I did a series of tractors, a series of junkyard cars, a series of plein air work, etc.. This has been helpful, as the self critique from the first piece or two helps with subsequent pieces that are similar.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been working to improve my studio space and become more professional at record keeping, photo organization, and technical skills (website, photo editing, framing, etc.). These things are a bit tedious, but I want to build these habits at the same pace that I am improving my painting skills.
Earlier today, for Instagram, I made a couple top-9 layouts. First is my top 9 fav pieces from this year, in no particular order. Happy to see some improvement from a year ago. Also, lots of the best candidates were from December, which I’ll take as a good sign. Forced into 9 squares format, so most images are cropped.
Next are my top nine Instagram posts, based on likes. Again, most images are cropped into the square format.
That is it for 2022. Happy New Years!
